METABOX
L’oeuvre comme une énigme dans une bouteille dérivant sur l’océan de l’éternité pour être encore visible et appréciée bien après la disparition de son auteur et de tout ce qui constituait la réalité de son monde révolu.
La question de la pérennité se doit d’être au coeur d’une quête artistique comme un défi que de très rares entreprises humaines peuvent prétendre relever. Se confronter à la difficulté de produire une oeuvre qui soit universelle mais également intemporelle est le prix à payer pour la liberté que s’octroie l’artiste de choisir lui même ses contraintes. C’est un contrat signé dès le départ pour jouir de cette rare situation existentielle permettant, si ce n’est de maitriser son destin et de vaincre la mort, au moins d’en avoir la fantastique illusion.
Les boites seront léguées à mes proches dont l’unique mission, si ils l’acceptent, consistera ensuite à les transmettre, à leur tour et au moment voulu, à un ami ou un descendant de leur choix...
Ainsi, chaque boite demeurera cet objet mystérieux entre oeuvre d’art, cabinet de curiosité et capsule temporelle qui traverse les époques en passant d’un foyer à un autre et que l’on redécouvre génération après génération. Certaine boites, au long du périple dans le temps, seront sans doute perdues, voire détruites (ou leur contenu abimé, éparpillé) mais je crois que leur destin commun sera de perdurer grâce au lien d’amitié ou de parenté qui assure la continuité…
Le contenu des METABOX montre l’arborescence cristallisée de ma recherche artistique à laquelle j’ai décidé de mettre un terme en 2020 afin d’expérimenter un processus d’achèvement.

The question of sustainability needs to be at the heart of an artistic quest, as a challenge that very few human enterprises can claim to take up. Confronting the difficulty of producing a work that is universal but also timeless is the price to pay for the artist’s freedom to choose his own constraints. It is a contract signed from the start to enjoy this rare existential situation allowing, if it is not to control one's destiny and overcome death, at least to have the fantastic illusion of it.
The boxes will be bequeathed to my loved ones whose sole mission, if they accept it, will then be to transmit them, in their turn and at the right time, to a friend or a descendant of their choice (see next page).
Thus, each box will remain this mysterious object between work of art, cabinet of curiosity and time capsule which crosses times while passing from a home to another and that will be rediscovered generation after generation.
Certain boxes, over the course of time, will undoubtedly be lost or even destroyed (or their content damaged, scattered) but I believe that their common destiny will be to last thanks to the bond of friendship or kinship which ensures continuity.
The content of the METABOX shows the crystallized tree structure of my artistic research which I decided to end in 2020 in order to experience the creative process of achievement.
